Types of Benzie County Liquor Licenses

Class C Tavern Liquor License

Allows for the sale of beer and wine on premises.

Class C Liquor License

This license allows for the sale of beer, wine, and spirits (like rum, gin, and whiskey) to customers on premise. It is used in bars and restaurants and does not have a seating or food requirement.

Class C Resort License

This license allows for the sale of beer, wine, and spirits (like rum, gin, and whiskey) to customers on premise. To get a Class C Resort license your location must have more than 100 seats and a full restaurant menu. The first 550 Class C resort licenses are transferable to any location across the state. It is possible to still get a Class C Resort license directly from the State.

Specially Designated Distributor Liquor License (SDD)

Allows for the sale of beer, wine, and spirits (like rum, gin, and whiskey) to customers in their original packages for consumption away from the licensed location. To get an SDD License you must be at least a half a mile away from the nearest SDD licensed location.

Specially Designated Merchant License (SDM)

Allows for the sale of beer and wine to customers in their original packages for consumption away from the licensed location. To get an SDD License you must be at least a half a mile away from the nearest SDD licensed location.

Instructions to getting a Benzie County Liquor License

To get a liquor license in Michigan you will first need to have a signed Letter of Intent, a lease, or a deed showing you have a right to the premises. See below for the steps to getting a Benzie liquor license:
